Manthe, Otto A. (25 Mar. 1895 - 24 Oct. 1981)

Otto A. Manthe, 86, died at 9:50 a.m. Saturday at his home, 512 N. Vine Ave.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ronald A. Jansen, associate pastor, officiating. Mrs. Janet Gauger will be soloist and Bruce Jensema, organist.

Burial will be in Hillside Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitations will be from 4-9 p.m. today at Hansen Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at church.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth and Arlyn Schwantes, Jerry Manthe, DuWayne Greeler, Fritz Lau and Walter Klein.

Mr. Manthe was born March 25, 1895 in the town of Unity to Mr. and Mrs. Herman (Roseta Seefeldt) Manthe. He attended town of Unity schools and was married to Laura Schwantes at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer.

After marriage they farmed in the town of Unity for 31 years, serving as a supervisor for the town of Unity 18 years. In 1951 they moved to Marshfield. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1970.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lutheran Laymen’s League, the 60 Club and Marshfield Senior Citizens Club.

Surviving are his wife and a brother, Olaf Manthe of Marshfield. He was predeceased by two infant daughters, a sister, two brothers and his parents.
