Steinhaus, Alworth R. (16 DEC 1917 - 28 JAN 1933)

Alworth Ronald Steinhaus was born Dec. 16, 1917, near Montello, Wis. In the spring of 1922 he came with his parents to Butler (Clark Co., Wis.), where he lived with his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. B.A. Cole, until his father found employment with the Cornell Wood Products Co. at Cornell. In the fall of 1922 the family moved to Cornell where they have since resided. Alworth attended the schools in Cornell and at the time of his death was a member of the Freshmen class at that place. He also attended the Methodist Sunday School there. Although his home was at Cornell, he spent a part of each summer with his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. B.A. Cole of Butler.

Alworth died Jan. 28, 1933, in an automobile accident one and one-half miles south of Thorp, at the age of 15 years, 1 month and 12 days.

He leaves to mourn, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Steinhaus, and one sister, Lois, his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. B.A. Cole, besides a number of aunts and uncles and cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the Cole home in Butler Feb. 1, 1933, conducted by Rev. James Irish of Thorp, and burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery near Withee.

The pallbearers were of the Cornell Freshmen class: Andrew Alcott, Fred Stickney, Jack Stickney, John Stoll, Eugene Hayden and Earl Andre.

Music and singing were furnished by his teacher, Miss Gladys Lohre, and the Glee Club: George Saam, Gaylord Thorson, Ollie Mae Waggoner and Avis Swanson.
