Schmidt, Walter Louise #2 (15 Oct. 1938 - 28 Nov. 2004)

NEILLSVILLE - Walter Louise Schmidt, age 66, of Neillsville, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2004, at home.

Services for Walter will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Internment will be in the North Pine Valley Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m., to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and again from 12:30 p.m.to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1938, in Marshfield to Emil and Hilda (Beversdorf) Schmidt. He married Ellen Irene Shambaugh on Nov. 11, 1961, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Neillsville, Wis.

Throughout the years, he was a self-employed carpenter and a dairy farmer. He was most proud of his trucking career, accumulating nearly 3 million miles over the years. In 1998, he started driving for his son and daughter in-law's company in Almond, Triple S Transfer, and retired in June due to illness.

Survivors include his wife Ellen; children, Angela (Jeffrey) Harder, Colfax Brenda (Daniel) Langreck, Neillsville, Michael Schmidt, Neillsville, Joyce (Mark) Smidl, Reedsburgh, Carl (Jami) Schmidt, Almond, Mark Schmidt, Neillsville, and Adam Schmidt, Wisconsin Rapids; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
