Arthur Strey

Arthur B. Strey, 87, of Spencer died Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care unit in Marshfield.

Memorial services for Arthur will be Tuesday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at the Community Funeral Home in Spencer. Family will greet friends and neighbors from 5 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.

Arthur was born April 6, 1920, to Albert and Ida (Thomas) Strey in the town of York. He attended Romaka Grade School in Loyal. He enjoyed fishing, camping and wood working. Besides farming in the town of York for 40 years, he was a truck driver hauling mild and later pulling mobile homes. He also escorted mobile homes in his retirement years.

Arthur is survived by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Strey of Spencer, six sons, Richard (Marie) Strey of Neillsville, Thomas (Kay) Strey of Waco, Texas, Harry (Paulette) Strey of Loyal, Peter (Linda) Strey, Jon (Connie) Strey and Jim (Mary) Strey, all of Spencer; one daughter, Susan Butterfield of Granton, 26 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Lisa Strey.

Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
