Luther, Ernstine W. (7 MAR 1859 - 21 NOV 1938)

Ernstine Wilhelmine Schulz was born March 7, 1859, at Lemnitz, Germany. She was baptized at Lemnitz, March 13, 1859 and confirmed in the Ev. Lutheran church at Schoenlaute, Germany, Sept. 24, 1871.

On March 23, 1882 she was united in marriage to Friedrich Luther at Stiglitz, Czarniken, Germany. That year the young couple emigrated to America and resided in Watertown for two years. They moved to Loyal from Watertown becoming pioneers of Clark county. Here they lived until death separated them Jan. 7, 1931, when Mr. Luther passed on.

Mrs. Luther became ill three months ago and passed away at her home Monday, Nov. 21, attaining the age of 79 years, 8 months and 14 days. Death was caused by liver trouble.

The deceased was a member of the Trinity ev. Lutheran church of this village and was a charter member of the Ladies Aid. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Martha Schwan, Greenwood, Mrs. Alvina Gretzner, Loyal, Adolph Luther, Loyal, Otto Luther, Marshfield, Emil Luther, Greenwood, Frank Mrs. Alma Deuermeyer, Loyal. There are 29 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 P, M. last Friday in the Trinity ev. Lutheran church here, Rev. J. C. Langholz officiating. Burial took place in the Lutheran Cemetery. The pall bearers were Adolph Luther, Otto Luther, Frak Luther, John Luther, and Wm. Deuermeyer.

The flower girls were Esther Schwan, Velda Foelske, Angeline Luther, Marcella Luther, Berdeen Luther, and Jeanette Luther.

Relatives and friends from away attending the funeral included Frank Luther from Montana, Rev. and Mrs. Aug. Quandt and family, Black Creek, Mr. and Mrs. M. Pingel and family, Seymour, Mr. and Mrs. R. Gropp and family, Marshfield.
