Laue, Donald H. #2 (17 AUG 1946 - 22 MAR 2007)

Donald H. Laue, 60, Willard, formerly of Elkhorn, died on Thursday, March 22, 2007, at his home. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, Saturday, March 31, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Friends are welcome to join in a celebration of his life. The Rev. Terri Blomberg will officiate. Burial will take place in the Willard Cemetery at a later date.

Donald H. Laue was born on Aug. 17, 1946, in Elgin, Ill. He was raised on a farm near Marengo, Ill., and later moved to a farm near Huntly, Ill. In 1964, he graduated from Crystal Lake High School, in Crystal Lake, Ill. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on Han. 20, 1966, and was stationed in Europe, where he served as a military police officer. On Dec. 7, 1967, he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and returned to Elkhorn. He married the love of his life, Joan Berkley, on Sept. 20. 1969, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Union, Ill. They farmed in Elkhorn until moving to Willard in 2003. He and his wife always said moving to Willard brought out the happiest times of their lives. They found joy in the most important possession in their lives: each other, their sons and families, especially the grandchildren, and their wonderful friends. He filled his days spending time with his family and friends and pursuing his lifelong passion, farming.

Survivors include his wife, Joan, Willard; two sons, Christopher (Calli) Laue, Fort Atkinson, and Andrew (Kristy) Laue, Darien. He was a proud grandfather to Conner, Cassidy, Gracie and Wesley.

Preceding him in death was a daughter in infancy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be given in his name for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood is assisting the family with arrangements.
