Tauchen, Frances (29 OCT 1869 - 30 AUG 1931)

It was with sadness that Dorchester (Clark Co., Wis.) folks learned of the death of Mrs. Jos. Tauchen, who passed away Sunday morning at the Medford Clinic from cancer. Mrs. Tauchen had been ailing since last winter and after an operation Friday, she grew worse until Sunday morning when she passed away.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 from the Wm. Tauchen home north of Dorchester and 2:00 at Stetsonville, Rev. Krouse officiating. Jack Dietze, Ernest Abbeglen, Robert Schultz, Matthew Brunner, Fred Brunner and Ernest Leper acted as pallbearers.

Frances Scholz, daughter of Ferdinand and Theresa Scholz, deceased, was born in Galicia, Austria, now part of Poland, on Oct. 29, 1869. She came to this country with her parents in 1883 and settled with them on a farm near Stetsonville, where they remained until 1902. On May 6th, 1890, she was united in marriage to Joseph Tauchen. To this happy union three sons, were born, William, Fred and Vincent, and they adopted another son, Ernest.

Mrs. Tauchen was a member of the Stetsonville Evangelical Lutheran Church and was beloved by all who knew her. Her duties of mother are over, yet she shall be greatly missed by her sons, who, although having attained manhood, will feel the absence of her kind voice and guiding hand. Her many friends in this community join the Clarion with friends from elsewhere in offering their sincerest sympathy to the mourning ones in their sorrow.

Mrs. Tauchen is survived by her husband, Joseph; four sons, Wm., Fred and Vincent of Dorchester, and Ernest of Milwaukee; four brothers, Ferdinand Scholz, Rte. 2, Medford, Frank Scholz of Council Bluffs, Ia, Vincent Scholz of Wachula, Fla., and John Scholz of Marquette, Mich.; tow sisters, Mrs. Frank Luterbach, Medford, and Mrs. J. Ludwig of ??rowning, Sask., Canada; and 9 grandchildren. Five grandchildren, Rudolph, Lucille, Marvin, Lester and Harold Tauchen, and one niece, Alice Scholz, acted as flower bearers at the services.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tauchen and son, Lester, of Milwaukee, Frank Scholz and son, John, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. John Scholz and daughter, Alice, of Marquette, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Tauchen, Mrs. Paulina Weinzinger and daughter, Mary, of Phillips, and Frank Scholz of Plover.
