Dumler, Henry (31 DEC 1915 - 22 SEP 1929)

The first serious hunting accident of the season happened late Sunday afternoon while Clifford and Arthur Naumann, Alvin Wimer and Henry and Jake Dumler were returning to the Naumann home, southwest of the village (Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis.), from a trip into the woods in quest of crows, hawks, etc. They had entered a pasture lot about one-half mile from the house when one of the shot guns was accidentally discharged, the entire charge penetrating the head of Henry Dumler, who was several feet ahead. Death was instantaneous.

Investigation by Dr. Foley, acting under instructions of district attorney V.W. Nehs, lead to the fact that the shooting was accidental and no inquest was necessary.

Funeral services were held from the Dumler home and St. Peter Lutheran Church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J. Brandt officiating, and interment was made in the Memorial (South) Cemetery.

Henry Dumler was born Dec. 31st, 1915, at Randolph, Wis., and came here with his parents during the summer of 1918, and was an 8th grade student at St. Peter Parochial School. He was looking eagerly ahead to his high school days for Henry was a bright, likeable chap and we sometimes wonder why such things occur in a life just begun, but God alone knows the whole plan of life and we can safely leave in his hands all things. May God comfort the bereaved ones.
