Laabs, Hilda (26 APR 1910 - 25 JAN 1944)

Hilda Abel, daughter of John Abel, was born in the Town of Eaton (Clark Co, Wis.) on April 26, 1910 and grew to womanhood here and attended school. In Sept. 1929 she was married to Wm. Laabs in Greenwood and later they moved to Abbotsford, Wis.

Mrs. Laabs, who had been ill at her home in Abbotsford, was taken to the home of her father, John Abel, at Greenwood on Jan. 12, and the following Monday was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she died at 5:40 on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 25, 1944.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Lawrence 13 and Lester 10, her father, a sister, Mrs. Norbert (Lena) Kuester, and a brother, Gilbert Abel, all of the Town of Warner. Her mother passed away in March 1938.

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 1:30 from the John Abel home and at 2:00 o’clock from the West Side Reformed Church, Rev. B.M. Fresenborg officiating. She was laid to rest in the West Side Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Geo. Gemmeke, Jr., Tony Gosar, Harry Liebzeit, Cyril Rakovec, Geo. Seliskar Jr. and Arno Miller.
