Holzhausen, Herman (11 MAY 1856 - 1 AUG 1932)

Herman Holzhausen died at home in this village (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) on Monday morning, Aug. 1, 1932. He suffered a stroke of paralysis about twelve o’clock Friday night and never regained consciousness. He was born at Sheboygan, Wis., on May 11, 1856, and had reached the age of 76 years, 2 months and 19 days. He spent his youthful days at Sheoygan and upon reaching manhood was united in marriage to Anna Neumann on Dec. 11, 1891, who passed away five years ago. In 1883 he moved to Thorp and later ot Glendive, Mont., where he spent several years, afterwards returning to Thorp where he has since made his home. For many years he was engaged at traveling salesman for the DeLaval cream separator concern and built the first cheese factory 1 ¼ miles south of Thorp, later building and operating a factory at Reseburg Corner.

He served as a faithful and efficient clerk of the village of Thorp for thirteen years.

He leaves to mourn, two sons, R.E. Holzhausen of Chippewa Falls, and Hugo Holzhausen of Thorp, and one daughter, Mrs. C.F. Rainey of Wheaton, Ill., also one brother, Paul Holzhausen of Sheboygan and one sister, Mrs. Louis Kolb of Thorp.

Deceased was a member of Thorp Lodge No. 264, A.F.&A.M., the officers of the lodge and Rev. Ayers of Gilman, conducting the funeral services which were held at the Masonic Hall on Wednesday afternoon at two o’clock. Interment followed the services in the village cemetery. The following persons acted as pallbearers: Alb. Childs, Tony Gulcynski, A.G. Rasmussen, W.S. Wagner, Walter Boelter and Jos. Klouda, Jr.
