Pflieger, Reta V (January 21, 1939 - January 11, 2007)

Reta V. Pflieger, age 67, formerly of rural Humbird, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2007, at Black River Memorial Hospital.

Reta, daughter of Lawrence and Violet (Larson) Kaufman, was born January 21, 1939, in Eau Claire. As a child she moved with her family to Fairchild, where she graduated from Fairchild High School in 1955.

She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fairview rural Fairchild.

She married Edward Pflieger February 7, 1959, and the couple lived all their married life in the Humbird area.

Reta attended beauty school and later owned and operated Beauty by Reta’s hair salon in Fairchild until she was afflicted with a stroke in April of 1984. She had been disabled since that time.

Since August of 2006, she had been a resident of the Pine View Care Center in Black River Falls.

She is survived by her daughter, Deb (John) Roemer of Evansville; two sons, Steven Pflieger (Jenny Brevik) of Fairchild and Kevin (Vickie) Pflieger of Humbird; mother, Violet Kaufman of Fairchild; two brothers, Dennis (Sharon) Kaufman of Fairchild and Duane (Vicki) Kaufman of Augusta; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her father in March of 1987; husband Ed on December 10, 1999, and brother, Joseph Kaufman in September 1978.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Fairview, rural Fairchild, with Reverend Cresencio Suaren officiating. The family was assisted by the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta.
