Jocelyn Brehm

COLBY -- Jocelyn Brehm, 91, of Colby, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, at Colonial Center, Colby.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at First United Church of Christ, Colby. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth A. Dix will officiate. Jocelyn's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at Community Funeral Home, Colby, and from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the church.

Jocelyn was born Jan. 15, 1916, in the town of Holton, Marathon County, to Arthur and Meta (Anders) Wellman. She attended Wright School in the town of Holton and graduated from Abbotsford, Wis. High School in 1933. She worked in Chicago as a domestic for one year, returning to Abbotsford to be with her sick father.

Jocelyn and Melvin Brehm were married in 1937. He died in May of 1974. They farmed in the town of Hull, Marathon County, from 1937 to 1969 when they moved to Colby. She started working for the Colby Public Library in 1970 and took classes at UW-Marshfield/Wood County to become a certified librarian. She retired in 1981. Jocelyn enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking, reading books and later listening to books on tape. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Royal Neighbors, and helped start the Rural Arts Museum in Colby.

Jocelyn is survived by her children, Patricia (Jerome) Heckel of Mosinee, James (Joan) Brehm of Colby, Elizabeth Mary Brehm of Marshfield, and Janet (David) Donovan of Chattanooga, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Wellman of Abbotsford; and one sister, Delores Brehm of Colby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Sandra Brehm.
