Williams, Harvey L. (1915 - 22 JAN 1945)

Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) - Sgt. Harvey L. Williams of Greenwood was killed in action in Luxembourg on Jan. 22, 1945, according to information received in a War Department telegram last night by his wife, the former Dorothy Hayes, a member of the Greenwood High School faculty.

Sgt. Williams entered the Army in April 1943 and left for overseas in October 1944.

He and his wife came to Greenwood in 1940 from Palmyra, the former teaching commercial subjects at Greenwood High School until 1942, when he accepted a position as bookkeeper in the office of the John Wuethrich Creamery Co.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, Robert, who was 2 years old the day of his father’s death, and the soldier’s father, who resides at Palmyra.
