Zimmerman, Ruth (Marriage - 9 June 1940)

A pretty home wedding took pace at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. George F. Zimmerman at 1:30 p.m. Sunday June 9, when their daughter, Miss Ruth, became the bride of Mr. Jess Nourse, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Nourse of 2551 N. 37th Street, Milwaukee.

Preceding the ceremony, Miss Dorothy Mae Nourse sang "At Dawning," and "Because," accompanied on the piano by Miss Betty Zimmerman. The wedding party entered the living room to the strains of a wedding march, which was played by Miss Zimmerman, and took their places before a plumose-covered arch by her father. Rev. G. W. Longenecker performed the single ring ceremony in the presence of 22 guests. Huge baskets and vases of garden flowers and roses completed the home decorations.

The bride wore a powder blue sheer redingote afternoon dress. Her bouquet consisted of a lovely arrangement of white sweet peas and pink bachelor buttons.

Miss Ione Schwellenbach, serving as bridesmaid, wore a crepe afternoon dress. Her flowers were a combination of pink roses and blue bachelor buttons. Ray Larson acted as best man.

The bride’s mother wore a gown of aqua redingote and lilies of the valley, while the mother of the room wore a rose mesh dress, with pink roses and white sweet peas.

The home reception was followed by a family dinner at Chapman’s.

Mrs. Nourse grew to young womanhood in this city. After graduating from the high school, she completed her education at the University of Wisconsin. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Since her graduation she has been in the employee of an insurance company in Milwaukee **(rest cut off.)
