Gowned in ivory satin fashioned with a sweetheart neckline and a full skirt, Miss Phillis Mae Mead became the bride of Burien T. Cook Jr., during a ceremony at United Lutheran Church, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), on Sunday, Nov. 30, 1947. The Rev. T.M. Nelson read the nuptial service.

A finger-tip veil of illusion, edged with imported lace and caught to a coronet headdress, completed the bride’s ensemble. She carried a white orchid on a Bible. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell B. Mead, Greenwood. The bridegroom’s parents are the senior Burien T. Cooks, Chicago.

The bride’s cousin, Miss Norma Warner, Greenwood, was maid of honor and her brother, Roger Mead, served as best man. Two other cousins of the bride, Miss Betty DeBarr and Lorice Gumtz, Merrill, were bridesmaids, and groomsmen were Eldred Weriger, Lublin, and Max Harms, Greenwood.

The maid of honor was dressed in blue taffeta, the bridesmaids in rose and yellow, respectively. They carried bouquets of white pompons and mums.

Dinner was served to 30 guests at Turco’s Café. A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.

Mr. Cook, a graduate of the John Marshal High School, Chicago, attended George William College, Chicago, for two years. He is a veteran of four and one-half years service in the Navy and is now doing electrical maintenance work in Chicago.

After Dec. 8, the couple will be home to friends at 4236 N. Broadway St., Chicago.
