Sollberger, Irma Isabelle (July 23, 1905 - December 19, 2006)

Irma Sollberger, age 101, of Neillsville, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Irma Isabelle Sollberger was born July 23, 1905 in the Town of Pine Valley. She was the daughter of Fred and Pauline (Marth) Ackerman. She graduated from Neillsville High School and attended the Teacher’s Training Course. Irma was united in marriage to William Sollberger. She went on to teach in one room rural schools for 16 years. She loved teaching all children, even the mischievous ones. Irma and Bill opened and ran a store in the Columbia area. After that she went back to teaching again. She also served as a correspondent for the Clark County Press for many years and also worked for the Department of Social Services in Clark County. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, birds and animals.

Surviving Irma is her nephew, Elmer Hoesly, of Neillsville; her niece, Dorothy (Ackerman) Anderegg, of Loyal; special friend, Mary Heimstead, of Neillsville; other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister and two brothers.

Funeral services for Irma were held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor Keith Lueneburg officiated. Music was provided by Susan Lueneburg, organist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Larry Kolbreck, Dan Schnabel, Gary McDonell, Howard Winters, Syl Muckerheide and Clem Schultz.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Irma’s family with funeral arrangements.
