Sander, Grace J. (28 JAN 1947)

Announcement has been made of the marriage of Grace Joy Sander, daughter of Mrs. Ruth Sander, Kansas City, Mo., to Robert William Mason, son of Mrs. Alma Mason and the late Clarence Mason of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).

The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Booker, Kansas City, Jan. 28, 1947, at 8:30 p.m., with Dr. Cassius reading the nuptial vows.

Miss Mary Ann Hammons, Jefferson City, Mo., wearing a light green suit with brown accessories, served as maid of honor for the bride, a sorority sister of hers. Howard Badecker, Malta Bend, Mo., a fraternity brother of the groom, was best man.

The bride presented in marriage by her uncle, was attired in a pearl-gray suit and brown accessories. She carried a sorority Bible to which white camellias were affixed and her attendant held yellow carnations.

Presiding at the punch bowl, at the reception for 70 guests which followed the ceremony, were Miss Marcia Gilkeson, Garden City, Mo., and Miss Peggy Karm, Independence, Mo. Ushers were Rex Thomas, Oklahoma City, Okla., and William O’Dell, Warrensburg, Mo. A large wedding cake centering the table was surrounded with white narcissus, freesia, and sweet peas.

Preceding the ceremony, R. Kirk Booker, a cousin of the bride, lighted the tapers at either side of the mantel. Miss Maxine Korfhage sang "Because" and "Always." She was accompanied by the concert pianist for the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra, who also played the "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin."

The bride, a graduate of Central Missouri State College with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry, is affiliated with Delta Sigma Epsilon Sorority.

Mr. Mason was graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1940 and is now a senior student at Central Missouri State College. He is a member of Beta Beta fraternity.

They are residing in Warrensburg, Mo., after a brief honeymoon spent in Kansas City.

Mrs. Mason, the bridegroom’s mother, attended the wedding and visited with relatives and friends in Missouri, Milwaukee, and Madison, before returning to her home.
