Swieso, Ila R. (10 OCT 1945)

Miss Ila Rae Swieso, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swieso, of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Leonard A. Thiede, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ewald Thiede, Granton (Clark Co.), in a wedding ceremony read Oct. 10, 1945, at 4 p.m., in the Zion American Lutheran Church at Granton. The Rev. Leonard Domke officiated at the double ring service. Full flowers and ferns decorated the church altar for the occasion and Misses Marian and Evelyn Winter sang "I Love Your Truly" and " Always," with Marian played the organ accompaniment.

The bride’s white satin gown was designed with a sweet heart neckline, long sleeves ending in points over the wrists, a fitted basque bodice, and full gathered skirt extending into a court train. Her full length veil of illusion was bordered with lace and caught to a tiara of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of roses, swansonia and mums.

Mrs. William Pfeifer, Milwaukee, was her sister’s matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Mrs. Clarence Wegner, Neillsville, a sister of the groom and Miss Audrey Haeuser, Greenwood. Mrs. Pfeifer and Miss Haeuser wore identically styled dresses of pink and yellow taffeta, with ballerina overskirts of net to which were attached bows knots of taffeta. Mrs. Wegner’s frock was designed of blue taffeta and net. Their bouquets were colonial arrangements of roses, mums, gladioli, and daisies.

William H. Thiede, LaCrosse, brother of the groom, Clarence Wegner, Neillsville, and Fred Schultz Jr., Willard, attended the groom.

Following the nuptial service a wedding dinner and reception were held at the Swieso home, canopied with blue, pink and yellow streamers. The table where covers were laid for 45 guests was centered with a large three-tier wedding cake. In the evening a dance was given at the Silver Dome at Neillsville, with Benny Graham and his orchestra providing the music for dancing.

The couple are now at home to friends on the groom’s farm near Granton after spending a week’s honeymoon in northern Wisconsin. Mrs. Thiede, a graduate of the Loyal High School and the Wis. Business Institute at LaCrosse, had been employed by the Badger State Credit Co. at Greenwood for the past 6 ½ years. Mr. Thiede was graduated from the Granton High School.

Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Perry Thayer, Mauston; Mrs. Anna Garbisch and Joyce Shock, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. James Colby and daughter, Virginia, Albert Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Herb White and daughter, Janie, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schultz, Loyal; William Thayer, Unity; Mrs. Emma Winter, Granton.
