Oswald, Shirley J. (14 OCT 1945)

Wearing a light blue crepe frock and brown accessories and a corsage of white carnations, Miss Shirley Jeanette Oswald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Oswald, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Douglas M. Behrens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Behrens, also of Greenwood, in a wedding ceremony read by the Rev. George Longenecker in the Congregational parsonage at Neillsville Sunday at 3 p.m. Attendants were Miss Winifred Oswald, sister of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Oswald, brother and sister-in-law of the bride, and Pvt. Bert Brown.

The maid of honor was attired in a blue wool frock and Mrs. Oswald, bridesmaid, in beige wool. Miss Oswald had a corsage of pink carnations and her sister-in-law chose yellow pompons and sweet peas.

Following the ceremony 31 guests were entertained at a reception at the Oswald home decorated with pink and white crepe paper streamers. Wednesday evening a wedding dance was given at the Merry Ol’ Gardens. After Nov. 15 the couple will be at home to friends on the groom’s farm south of Greenwood.

The bridegroom was granted a discharge from Army service Sept. 6, at Camp McCoy, after serving since Aug. 28, 1942, the date of his enlistment. He spent 28 months overseas with the 100th Bombing group of the Eighth Air Force, at which time he was stationed in England. At the time of his discharge he was rated a private first class.

A prenuptial shower attended by 40 guests was held at the Fred Behrens home the afternoon of Oct. 11, with Mrs. Behrens and Mrs. Don Warner Co-hostesses. The bride was the recipient of many gifts at the party and lunch was served.
