Funeral services for Mrs. Caroline Christie were held Wednesday, April 9, at one o’clock at the Jaster Funeral Home in Neillsville and at two o’clock at the Methodist Church at Christie. Services were conducted by the Rev. A. J. Abbott, burial being made in the Christie Cemetery. She was the last of a family of nine children.

Mrs. Christie was born in Crawford County, Pa., January 28, 1853, to Fred and Sylvina Beeler. On March 27, 1875, she was married to Andrew Christie at Greenville, Pa. The following year the young couple came to Clark County, together they met the tests and trails of pioneer life with cheerfulness and courage and together they realized the hope of carving a comfortable home for themselves and their children out of a mere wilderness. Mrs. Christie passed away November 22, 1917.

Mrs. Christie was a member of four children: Sylvina, Mrs. Ben Stanley, of the town of Eaton, Scott and Fred, who reside on the home farm, and Allie, Mrs. Lin Shaw, who died March 14, 1936. There are five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also like a mother to the children of her brother and sister, Mrs. George Iftland of Humbird and Free Burge of Muskegan, Michigan, who made their home with her at times.

The pallbearers were Scott Schaefer, Walter Boon, Ed Johnson, Arthur Barton, Mr. Loberg and Julius Bohnsack. At the funeral home Mrs. Jaster sang, "The Lord is My Shepheard." Mr. and Mrs. Harder, Mrs. George Schaefer, Clinton Asplin and Florence Bohnsack sang at the church, their numbers including: "The Garden of Prayer," "The Old Ragged Cross," and "God Will Take Care of You."
