Schmidt, Hans (23 JUN 1902 - 2 FEB 1943)

Funeral services for Hans Schmidt, 40, Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), who was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Sunday, Jan. 31, and who died there Tuesday, were held Saturday afternoon at the Schiller Funeral Home, Greenwood, the Rev. Alex J. Abbott, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

During the services Misses Irene and Ilene Abbott sang "Good Night and Good Morning," "Does Jesus Care?" and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," accompanied by Mrs. John Meng, organist.

Hans Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmidt, was born in Sabula, Iowa, June 23, 1902, and was baptized in the Methodist Church July 25, 1902. In 1913 he and his parents and brother left Sabula and moved into Fairchild, and in 1920 moved to Willard, where he has since resided.

He was married to Miss Lillian Severson of Greenwood, Nov. 26, 1930, and is survived by his wife, two daughters, Shirley Jean, at home, and Mrs. Florence Laykovich, Milwaukee, and a son, Laverne Schmidt, Milwaukee. Also, a brother, Harry Schmidt, Milwaukee.

His mother died in 1929 and his father in October 1941.

Among those from out of town at the funeral were Laverne Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. Laykovich, Milwaukee; Mrs. Floyd Severson, Prescott; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mess and Mr. and Mrs. Tessler, Marshfield; Mrs. Walter Johnson and family, Rhinelander; and Mrs. Adolph Rossman, Loyal.
