Scherr, Marcella J. (13 JUN 1942)

Miss Marcella Josephine Scherr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Scherr, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), was married to Florian George Herrick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Herrick Sr., Willard (Clark Co.), at a ceremony which took place Saturday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Greenwood. The Rev. John Novak officiated, and music was played during the ceremony.

A princess gown of ivory satin made with a lace yoke and beaded neckline was selected by the bride. With it she wore a lace-trimmed veil of fingertip length, caught to a lace-trimmed crown of orange blossoms. She carried pink carnations and orange blossoms. Around her neck was clasped a necklace with a gold engraved locket, which had been given to the bride’s paternal grandmother by her mother, and had been worn by the grandmother for more than 50 years.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Martin Scherr, Wausau, a sister-in-law of the bride. She was attired in aqua blue taffeta made with a gathered bodice and full skirt. She wore white carnations in her hair and carried a bouquet of the same flowers.

Miss Lucille Herrick of Aitken, Minn., the groom’s sister, who acted as bridesmaid, wore blue marquisette over taffeta. She wore orange blossoms in her hair, and carried an orange blossom bouquet.

Martin Scherr, Wausau, the bride’s brother, was the best man. The bridegroom also was attended by Joe Petkovsek, Willard.

Later, a reception was held at the home of the bride, which was decorated with cut flowers and with pastel-colored streamers. The bride’s table was decorated with pink and white peonies and with a three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom. A wedding dinner and buffet supper were served.

The bride, who was graduated in 1939 from Greenwood High School, has been employed in Oak Park, Ill. The groom is employed by the Plautz Brothers Construction Co. Mr. and Mrs. Herrick will make their home at Willard.

Mr. Scherr, father of the bride was unable to attend the wedding, as he is a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he is recovering from injuries received in an accident. The bridal party visited him at the hospital on the day of the wedding.

Among the guests her for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Martin Scherr and daughter, Rometta, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Herrick Sr., daughter Joan and son Bob, and Joe Petkovsek, Willard; Miss Frances Herrick, Peoria, Ill.; Miss Lucille Herrick, Aitken, Minn.; John Falkner and Mrs. Henry Falkner, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hengst and daughter Clara, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Achenbach and family, August Falkner, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Falkner and daughters Elaine and Anna Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Black, and Mr. and Mrs. Paechill, all of Durand; and Mr. And Mrs. Lawrence Steller and family, Fall Creek.
