Johnson, Ila M. (1 JUN 1941)
Immediate relatives and friends attended the wedding of Miss Ila Marie Johnson, daughter of Sigward Johnson of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), to Verland Harvey Millard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Verne Millard, also of Loyal, at the Greenwood United Lutheran Church on Sunday evening at 8 o’clock. Candlelight illuminated the altar, and cut flowers and palms were used in the decorations at the church. The Rev. A.E. Norson read the rites.
Mrs. A.E. Norson played the organ throughout the ceremony, for which the bride chose a white moiré taffeta gown with short puffed sleeves and a shower bouquet of pink roses and lilies of the valley. Her long veil was bordered with Chantilly lace and fell from a tiara of lace and orange blossoms. A five-strand pearl necklace was her only jewelry.
Miss Ardice Millard, sister of the groom, was maid of honor, and she was attired in aqua taffeta with white accessories and a pearl necklace. The bridesmaid, Miss Elaine Jolivette, cousin of the bride, wore peach taffeta. Both attendants had rose corsages. Raymond Johnson, best man, and Edward Johnson, brothers of the bride, attended Mr. Millard. Mrs. Albert Dahl and Mrs. Louis Behrens sang during the service.
A lunch was served at the home of the bride’s parents, and 50 guests attended the reception. Peach, aqua and white streamers decorated the dining room, and a large white wedding bell was suspended from the ceiling. A wedding cake baked by the bride’s mother centered the table.
