Benedict, Marian E. (15 DEC 1922 - 6 NOV 2006)

Marian E. Benedict, 83, Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006. Visitation will be held at the United Methodist Church, Loyal, on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Wendell Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in the York Center Cemetery.

Marian Edith Peterson was born Dec. 15, 1922, in the town of Levis, to Carl F. and Annie L. (nee Zunker) Peterson. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at rural schools. She married Morvin W. Benedict on July 25, 1942, at York Center. She worked for the Loyal School District as a cook for many years and retired as the head cook. They continued to live in Loyal until 2002, at which time they moved to Neillsville, Wis. Her husband, Morvin, died on Jan. 20, 2003. She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles, Packer football, and Cubs baseball.

Survivors include one son, Gary Benedict, Marshfield; one daughter, Sue (Emery) Gleason, Missouri; eight grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Pat Benedict, Black River Falls; and one brother-in-law, Leroy Collinson.
