Johnson, Mr./Mrs. Peter (Gold - 4 MAR 1939)

Mr. and Mrs. Peter C. Johnson, residents of this community (Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis.) for almost half a century, observed their golden wedding anniversary on March 4, 1939 at their home four miles northeast of Greenwood.

Approximately 20 relatives and friends were present, including the Rev. and Mrs. M.K. Aaberg, the Rev. and Mrs. A.E. Norson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Aaberg and son, Clarence, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson and daughter, Marie, all of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. George Kuehl, Withee; and Mrs. Morris Anderson and son, Morris, Stevens Point.

Peter Johnson, who is 78 years old, was born in Norway and came to the United States with his parents when he was 6 years old. The family settled at Black River Falls.

Mrs. Johnson, who is 70 years of age, was also born in Norway, and came to Black river Falls at the age of 16 years. The couple were married at Black River Falls on March 4, 1889, and lived there a few years before moving to Longwood. Later they moved to their present farm at Greenwood, where they have resided for more than 30 years.

They have four children: Mrs. Morris (Julia) Anderson, Stevens Point; Paul Johnson, Sullivan, Ind.; Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Johnson, Greenwood; and Mrs. George (Nola) Kuehl, Withee. One daughter, Mrs. Cora Vangsness, died several years ago.

There are 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
