Hanson, Kari (7 Mar. 1850 - 23 Oct. 1939)

Mrs. Kari Hanson passed away at the home of her son, Carl Hanson, at Black River Falls, at 11 a.m. October 23, after an illness of about four weeks following a fall in which she sustained a broken hip. She was nearly ninety years of age.

Mrs. Hanson was before her marriage, Miss Kari Warlum. She was born in Gulbransdalen, Norway, March 7, 1850, and grew to womanhood there. She was married in her native land to Armund Hanson, who preceded her in death in February, 1926; five years after the couple celebrated their golden wedding.

They came to America in 1877, settling in Vernon County. Eleven years later they came to Neillsville and after living in this city for a few years they purchased a farm in Pine Valley east of Neillsville, Wis.

Mrs. Hanson was a hard-working and strictly unselfish woman. All through her long and useful lifetime she submerged her own wants and desires for the comfort of those about her. Hers was a cheerful and happy disposition, though many hardships had been her lot.

She was a charter member of the Royal Neighbor Lodge which was organized here about 45 years ago. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She is survived by four sons; Carl, Black River Falls; Rudolph, La Crosse, Oscar, Minneapolis and Henry, Eau Claire; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Other survivors are: one brother, Ole Warlum and a sister, Mrs. Mary Resset, both of Coon Valley, Wis.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 26, at the Jaster Funeral Home, Rev. L. M. Aaberg and a minister from Chippewa Falls officiating. Interment took place at Neillsville cemetery.

The pallbearers were Ole Lowe, Ole Botnen, John Moen, Elmer Barr, Oluf Botnen and Otto May.

Out-of-town relatives in attendance at the services were; Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hanson and three children, La Crosse; Mrs. Percy Spaulding and her brother, Richard Hanson, Beloit, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hanson, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hanson and son, Minneapolis and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanson and two sons, Eau Claire.
