Haslow, Virginia M. (6 JUN 1919 - 17 OCT 2006)

Virginia M. Haslow, 87, Loyal, died at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006. Funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial followed in the Loyal City Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Virginia Marie Starkey was born on June 6, 1919, in Lorain County, Ohio, to Edward and Helen (Nee Threm) Starkey. She attended school in Ohio through the seventh grade and then her family moved to Medford where she graduated from the Medford High School in 1936. Following her graduation, she moved back to Ohio and enrolled in school to be a nurses aide. She worked as a nurses aide in Ohio, until returning to Wisconsin to care for her ailing mother. On Oct. 29, 1938, she married Arnold Haslow at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. They farmed in the Loyal area for many years, retiring in 1975, at which time they moved to the city of Loyal. She worked at the Loyal Post Office, as a postal clerk, from 1969 until 1983. Her husband, Arnold, passed away on Oct. 13, 2000, and she continued to reside in Loyal. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, and its TLCW. She had many interests, including, sewing, oil painting, playing cards and scrabble, making greeting cards, crossword puzzles, and traveling, but especially loved spending time with her family.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Randy, (Rachelle) Haslow, Somerset, Edward (Karen) Haslow, Garfield Heights, Ohio, Maxine (George) Tartar, Loyal, and Nancy Rybka, Tacoma, Wash; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Herman (Katie) Starkey, Lisbon, Ohio.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arnold; one son, William, on July 29, 1961; one son-in-law, John Rybka, on Jan. 29, 1989; five brothers; one sister; two half-brothers; and two half-sisters.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
