Romanowski, Leona E. (April 11, 1923 - October 8, 2006)

Leona E. Romanowski age 83, longtime Gilman area resident passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side, on Sunday, October 8, 2006. A Christian Burial Mass will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, WI with Fr, John Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadowbrook Cemetery, Gilman, WI. Friends and family may call from 9-10:30 a.m. prior to service time at church. Plombon Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leona was born April 11, 1923 in Lublin, WI, the daughter of Rudolf & Stella Czyzewski. She grew up in the rural Lublin area and was united in marriage to Tony Romanowski on June 20, 1942 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Lublin, WI. They then moved to the Gilman area where they farmed and raised their family. Leona also worked at Drangle Cheese for a few years before working as a CNA at Zastrow Health Care and then the Rusk County Health Care Center until her retirement. She was a woman of many hobbies and talents with a passion for her vast flower gardens. She was a member of the Gilman garden club, and a longtime member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, WI.

Leona is survived by her husband, Tony of Gilman, WI; three sons: Robert Romanowski of Gilman, WI, Alan (Patricia) Romanowski of Eau Claire, WI, and Dennis (Sue) Romanowski of Medford, WI; one daughter, Bonnie (special friend, James Gary) Romanowski of Medford, WI; six grandchildren: Anthony and Todd Romanowski, Jennifer Gustum, and Emily Brian and Amanda Holub; four great-grandchildren: Kaylie, Julia, Jessalyn and Landen; and one sister, Harriet Losiewicz of Thorp, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters, and two grandchildren.
