Helen I. Troz, age 83, of 120 East 6th Ave., Stanley, WI, a former Town of Worden resident, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2006, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab Center, Thorp, WI.

Funeral services will be held on Friday October 6, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanley, WI with Pastor Linda Dutton officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery, Stanley, WI. Friends and family may call on Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI and one hour prior to service time on Friday at the Church. Plombon Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Helen was born April 6, 1923 in Oconomowoc, WI, the daughter of Ingvald and Tilda Amdahl. In 1934 she moved with her family to the Stanley area and attended area schools, graduating from Stanley High School in 1941. Helen and John met one another in 1941, but John was called to serve his country in 1942. After his tour of duty he returned to marry Helen on May 24, 1947 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Stanley, WI. They then purchased a farm in the Town of Worden in 1948. Besides farming, Helen worked at the Farmer’s Store for 22 years and then at Stanwood Woodworking until her retirement. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed sewing, gardening, and visiting. She was a lifelong member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Stanley, WI and participated in the yearly Harvest Dinner and other church activities.

Helen is survived by her husband John of Stanley, WI; two daughters: Patty (Kenny) Theirl of Grafton, WI, and JoAnn (Arnold) Roytek of Cadott, WI; one son, Gary (Jane) Troz of Sun Prairie, WI; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
