Martz, Louise "Lizzie" (Nov 26,1880 - June 1906)

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuehling of this village (Unity) received the sad intelligence Tuesday of the death of their daughter, Louise of Tomahawk. She had been slightly ill for some time but her condition was not considered serious until Saturday when she was confined to her bed, word was sent home that should she become worse they would telephone, on Monday afternoon a message came telling her mother to come at once, just before the train departed Tuesday morning the sad news came over the wires that Louise was dead. The remains arrived here on No. 3 Thursday accompanied by the bereaved husband, mrs. Kuehling, herman and Anna. The funeral took place from the Lutheran church, the Rev. Lugenheim officiating. The burial took place at the Unity Cemetery.

Louise Kuehling was born in Germany on Nov 26th, 1880, she grew to womanhood in Unity. In June 1904 she was united in marriage to Mr. Leo Martz of Tomahawk. During her long residence here, Lizzie, as she was familiarly called, made a host of friends whose eyes were dimmed and whose hearts went out in sympathy to the bereaved husband and other relatives when those cruel words came over the wire announcing her untimely death.

Besides her husband and parents, she leaves four brothers and four sisters to mourn her deaparture.

The funeral was largely attended by neighbors and friends of the deceased which was a token of the high esteem in which she was held.
