Spry, Robert "Bob" (July 28, 1927 - September 15, 2006)

Robert "Bob" Spry, age 79, of Granton, died on Friday September 15, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room in Marshfield.

Bob was born on July 28, 1927, in Granton, the son of Lloyd and Hildegard (Prange) Spry. He attended Granton schools and then entered the U. S. Army serving in Germany. Bob married the former Audrey Pikett on August 18, 1951, at the Methodist Church in Granton.

Bob worked the family feed mill known as W. J. Spry & Sons in Granton. He later owned and operated A&W Root Beer stands in Waupaca and Paris, IL. Known as the "egg man," Bob transported fresh eggs from the farm to the egg processor and also sold Frazier Christmas trees in the western states. In retirement years, Bob drove truck for Marshfield Canning Company. He was Granton Village President for 14 years and was instrumental in promoting the Granton Park. He was a member of the Air Stream travelers and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. Christmas always found him being Santa Claus to children and families in the area. Because of failing health, they moved to Three Oaks assisted living in Marshfield within the last month.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Audrey Spry, currently of Marshfield; four sisters, Ruth Lehman, of Fairfax, VA; Maxine (Raymond) Workman, of Vadnais Heights, MN; Bonnie (Ace) Hill, of Poughkeepsie, NY; Nancy (Chuck) Anderson, of Stevens Point; nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parent; two sisters, Marian Burnett and Alyce June Radtke.

There will be a celebration of Life on Saturday, October 14, 2006, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Sportsman’s Club in Granton with family and friends.

Maurina/Community Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.
