Upon his graduation from Lake Park High School he began attending the University of Minnesota but in 1941 interrupted his education to enlist in the U. S. Navy to serve in World War II. After being stationed in New York City for two years he requested his discharge so he could join the U. S. On September 13, 1947, he married Agnes Leila Siren in Detroit Lakes, MN. After his completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree he began employment with the Goodrich Rubber Company in Duluth.

In 1951 Charles joined the Gamble-Skogmo company as a field representative and he and Aggie moved to Eau Claire. Two years later they moved to Neillsville where Charles and his brother Myron James, opened a Gambles hardware store. In 1959 they sold the Gambles store and opened Jordahl Brothers Furniture Store, which they owned and operated until 1972. During these years Charles was an active member of the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce, Calvary Lutheran Church, and served on the Neillsville Board of Education for multiple terms.

Upon his retirement in 1972, Charles and Aggie began spending winters in Florida, returning to Wisconsin to spend the summers at their lake home on Lake Arbutus. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, and traveling.

Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Aggie, of Clermont, FL; one daughter, Diane, of Clermont, FL; one son, Bernie (Marge), of Stillwater, MN; one grandson, Kyle Jordahl, of St. Cloud, MN; one granddaughter, Lisa Jordahl, of Stillwater, MN; one brother, Myron James Jordahl (Eleanor), of Neillsville; and one sister, LaVonne Hove, of New Richmond.
