Short, Ernest James (30 Jan. 1910 - 9 Dec. 1938)

Ernest James Short, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Short was born in the town of Washburn January 30, 1910, and passed away at the Granton clinic December 9, 1938, at the age of 28 years, 10 months and 9 days.

Ernest has been suffering with a cold for several weeks but did not give up until Monday when his condition became serious. All that was humanly possible was done to overcome the ailment but to no avail and he passed away the following day.

He grew to manhood on the home farm near Shortville where he has been a great comfort and help to his parents. He was a willing worker and conscientious in his duties. His sterling character and winning smile made him a favorite in the community and his passing spread a shadow of gloom throughout the country side.

He leaves to mourn his untimely departure, his parents, three uncles, four aunts, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Schiller’s Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. G. W. Longenecker offici8ating. The pallbearers were his intimate friends and former schoolmates: David and Henry Krutsch, Harold Junchen, Bernard and Robert Kuhn and Clarence Reinart. The remains were laid to rest in the Neillsville Cemetery.
