An afternoon wedding ceremony Monday, June 9th, at 4:30 o’clock united Miss Mardelle Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.H. Williams, 2926 Fifth Av, Rock Island, and Henry L. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of River Falls, Wis. The ceremony was solemnized in the home of the bride’s parents by Dr. Edward F. Bartholomew of Augustana College.

The vows were taken in the presence of immediate relatives and friends. Miss Marian Williams, sister of the bride, and Frank Williams, the bride’s cousins, were attendants.

At 6:30 o’clock last night a wedding dinner was served in a private dining room at Johnson’s cafeteria. The bride’s chosen hues, rainbow tints, were used in the table appointments and floral decorations.

Mrs. Smith was graduated from the Rock Island High School and from Augustana. The two years succeeding, she taught in the high school at Clearwater, Neb., and for the last two years she has been an instructor of English in the Thorp High School, Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.

Mr. Smith received his education in the State Teacher’s College at River Falls, Wis.

The bridal couple will take a short trip through Iowa and Minnesota. After July 15, the will be at home on Mr. Smith’s farm at River Falls. (Rock Island Argus)

Miss Williams for the past several years has come to Owen during the summer months, and visited with her father, M.H. Williams, who is salesman for the Dairy Belt Land Co., and her stays here won for herself many acquaintances and friends, all of whom join the Enterprise in extending congratulations.
