Jahr, Trygve (1878 - 17 SEP 1931)

Trygve Jahr, 62, died at the LeGault hospital Thursday evening of last week, after he had been a patient there for about an hour. He was brought to the hospital in a serious condition, and seemed to be suffering with fits, which it was believed was caused by poisoning.

Jahr, a bachelor, residing three miles southeast of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), had been in town in the forenoon making purchases of groceries, and had returned to his home shortly before noon. Late in the afternoon he became suddenly ill, and went to the home of John Wedling, a neighbor, and asked that he be brought to Owen for medical aid. He died about an hour after being received at the hospital.

A post mortem examination was had, and his stomach and contents were forwarded to Madison to the state laboratory, for analysis, to determine whether he had taken poison or not. A report from the laboratory has not been received by the county authorities who are investigating the case.

Jahr had been a resident of this county for about thirty years, coming here from Norway, and had lived in and near Owen for the past fifteen years. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Congregational Church, Rev. W.P. Powell officiating and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Those from away attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ballerud and family of Eau Cliare, an uncle of the deceased.
