Abraham Butler was born in Vermont on August 12,1834. When twelve years of age he moved with his parents to Fond du Lac where he resided until 1876 when he removed to the town of Unity, Clark Co WI.

He was married at Fond du Lac when 19 years (of) age to Adleia Beaudreau and to this union were born six children five of whom are still living: Edward, Matilda, Mrs. Philip Klein, Joe, Abraham and Julia.

In 1867 he was married to Celia Carier to whom were born six children all of whom are still living: Mrs. Ida Shelley, Dave, Eli, Louis, Alex, and Florence.

He resided in the Town of Unity until 1903 when he removed to Fond du Lac where he resided until his death which occurred Thrusday May 26,1904.

The deceased was of a very generous disposition, honest, true to his friends and a man whom to know was to like. During his long residence here he made a host of warm friends who extend their sincere sympathy to the breaved family.

All the children were present at the funeral except Louis of S. Dakota and Dave of Stanley.

Researcher’s Note - Ida Butler Shelley, daughter of Abraham and Celia (Carier) Butler was my great-great Aunt. She was married to David Shelley, son of Simon and Ruth (Johnson) Shelley and after David Shelley’s death in 1903 she and their children moved to Fond du Lac, WI where they lived out their lives. I now know from this obit that it was because she had family living there.
