LOCALS

J. H. Vogt drove to Colby Wednesday morning.

Emma Harry accompanied a friend to Marshfield Wednesday.

Miss Ethel Anderson returned Saturday from her visit at Hartford.

Dr. Sizer, the Colby dentist will be at the Forest House Saturday Aug 23.

Mrs. W. F. Cutts attended the camp Cleghorn assembly at Waupaca this week. She reports a very pleasant time.

The Ladies Aid Society will not meet until next week Thursday Aug 28th at Mrs. Hesse’s house on the old Thayer farm.

A. F. Groelle departed Wednesday morning for Tomahawk, where he has accepted a position with the Standard Mercantile Co.

A. M. Cole of Hull and brother-in-law F.W. Cowen, formerly of Great Falls, Montana were Unity callers Saturday and made this office a pleasant visit.

We understand that Wm. Butler of Granton, a former businessman of Unity, is out for the Democratic nomination for Register of deeds for Clark County.

Sergt. H. H. Kuehling and sister, Louise left Monday for Tomahawk where H.H. will visit for a few days and Louise will assume her duties at the laundry.

Mrs. H. Brintall returned home Tuesday from Grandin, N. D. where she has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Godfrey for the past six weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Sheldon and A. Higby drove over from Greenwood Saturday and returned Sunday accompanied by Mrs. Higby, who has been visiting relatives here during the past week.

H. Henry, the genial representative of Roundy, Peckham & Co., was in town Tuesday, calling on his customers and incidentally telling a few of those whoppers which are making for him quite a reputation among the runners.

R. H. Hart of the Hart Bros. Furniture Co. of Colby and H. J. McIntyre, former of Marshall, who is now attending the teacher’s institute at Colby, wheeled down from Colby on business Tuesday. This office acknowledges a pleasant call.

Notes From Madison

Mrs. Frank Prosser went to Waukesha last week to visit with the family of W.T. McGuire, formerly of Unity. She will be absent from the city about three weeks.

W.H. Richards of Loyal was in Madison last week, having been over to Mendota to see his son, Clayton, who is now rapidly recovering his health and will be able to return to his home within a few weeks. Mr. Richards found time to take in the sights of the capitol city.

Frank Prosser, the capitol park policeman, now that his better half is away, spends the whole day in the park keeping company with the park squirrels. Frank makes a good officer and attends closely to his duties.

Frank Tucker, the genial, good looking attorney of Neillsville, has been in the city for the past few days, attending to some business matters. It is rumored that he will be selected as secretary of the state central committee. No better choice could be made.

Miss Daisy Allan, who is holding a position as stenographer in the department of Agriculture at Washington, arrived in Madison last Saturday for a month’s visit with her friends. She will also go to Colby to see her brother and sister and visit with friends there for three weeks.

Strayed from the premises of the undersigned about July 1st 1902 one two years old Red Poll steer and 1 red calf about 7 months old with white star in face and small bell on. A suitable award will be paid for any information as their whereabouts. Notify A Korntved, Unity, Wis.

Notice is hereby given by the undersigned that on the 5th day of Aug, 1902, one black and white cow about three years old and one red bull calf about tow months old, strayed upon land occupied by me and on which I reside to-wit The SW ¼ of section 35, township No. 28 2 east in town of Hull and county of Marathon, and was there found and taken up by me and the owner of which is hereby notified to prove property, pay charges and take the same away.

Dated this 8th day of Aug, 1902
