Hanby, Alice Juanita (January 12, 1924 - July 4, 2006)

Alice J Hanby, age 82, of Black River Falls died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, in Country Terrace, Black River Falls, under the care of Black River Hospice.

Alice Juanita Wallmuth was born January 12, 1924, in the Town of Dewhurst, Clark County, to Fred and Mildred (Heneise) Wallmuth. She was raised in the Hatfield area.

She married Richard Hanby December 18, 1943, in Black River Falls. They lived in Vaudreuil for many years. Following Richard’s death in 1966, Alice moved to a home in Brockway. She later lived at the River Grove Apartments for five years, Parkside Residence for two years and, for the past three years, had resided at the Country Terrace.

Alice assisted her husband in the harvesting of logs and sphagnum moss. She later worked as a nurse’s aide at Pine View Nursing Home for five years, Rozmenoski Locker Plant for five years and at the Pines Motor Lodge as head of housekeeping for 26 years. She retired from the Pines in 1994.

She enjoyed baking (long johns, pies and cinnamon rolls), pillowcase painting and making doilies.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley (Bob) Johnson and Faye (Ed) Urbanek, both of Black River Falls; a son, Calvin (Jeannine Gerke) Hanby of Tomah; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Florence) Wallmuth of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Alice was preceded in death by three sisters, Mildred, Ruth and Laura; and a brother, George Wallmuth.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8, 2006, at 2 p.m. from the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, and burial was in the Hatfield Cemetery. Myron Olson officiated.

Casket bearers were Richard Johnson, Kevin Cook, Bill Kibler, Tim Burlingame, Daniel Reynolds, Nick Kibler, Sean Cook, Skyler Cook and John Cook.

Family and friends were invited for visitation at the Buswell Funeral Home (www.buswellfuneralhome.com) Saturday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
