OBITUARY

Last Thursday the relatives and many friends of Mrs. Ellen Brown received the sad intelligence of her death at Lacosta,Michigan, where she was spending the winter with her daughter, Mrs. C. H. Nelson, although she has been in fading health since the death of her husband which occurred four years ago, the direct cause of her death was strangulation of the intestines.

Mrs. Ellen Brown was born in Bohem on March 4,1832. She came to America when 18 years of age and lived at Black River Falls, Wisconsin, where she was united in marriage to O. M. Brown in 1856, their union was blessed with seven children, four of whom are left to mourn her death.

They are: Mrs. C. O. Graham, Mrs. C. F. Anderson, both of the town of Unity; Mr. J. H. Brown of Brownsville, Tenn.; and Mrs. C. H. Nelson of Lacota, Michigan.

The family came to Clark Co in 1870 and resided there until five years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Brown retired from the farm and moved into the village, locating on the Marathon County side. They had lived here but a year when the husband was called to the great beyond, since then Mr. Brown’s health has been gradually failing and on account of her age was unable to withstand the effects of her last sickness, her age being at the time of death 70 years 4 months and 8 days. The body arrived here Friday evening in charge of Mrs. C. H. Nelson

The funeral was held from the M. E. Church at 10 o’clock Sunday, March 15 and was attended by the bereaved relatives and a large concourse of sorrowing friends.

Rev. W. H. Philpot presided at the funeral and preached a very helpful sermon.
