Clara M. Gunia, 91,of Spencer,died at the Colonial Center in Colby,on Friday,May 12,2006.

Clara Marie Pawlicki was born on July 1,1915,in the Town of Roosevelt, rural Thorp, to Anton and Mary (Kesznowska) Pawlicki. She was raised on the family farm and recieved her education in area schools.Clara was united in marriage to Louis B. Gunia on Feb . 26.1938, in Chicago IL. She operated cheese factories, with her husband, in Withee and Greenwood,until purchasing York Center cheese factory, Clark County, in 1947. They operated Gunia's Dairy until retiring in 1973,and moving to Spencer . Clara then worked for the food Service Program in Spencer. She and her husband also helped their son and daughter-in law develop Christmas Tree Marketing in Texas. she resided in Spencer until entering the Colonial Center in Colby,in 2000. Clara was a talented sewer and crocheter and made great Polish dishes. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, in spencer and previously served on the school board for Lincoln School, in Clark County.

She is survived by four children, Virginia(Mike)Matanic, of Maple Plain, MN;Claudia(Tom) Braun,of Portage; Sharon(Harold)Groschwitz,of Colby;Dennis(Marge)Gunia,of Huston TX; eight grandchildren;12 great-grandchildren;and one brother, Joseph Pawlicki,of Thorp.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,Louis,on August 8,1996;two brothers, Alois and Edmund Pawlicki; three sisters, Julia ,in infancy, Lottie Losiewicz and Wanda Sandel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday,May 17,at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Fr.John Long will officiate and burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, on Wednesday,from 9:30 a.m.until time of service.
