King, Mr./Mrs. Elgar (55th - 8 Nov. 1981)

King couple honored for 55 years of wedded life

The children of Elgar and Hilda King, 308 West Fifth St. Neillsville, honored the couple on Sunday, November 8, for their 55th wedding anniversary.

Over 150 friends and relatives gathered at the Calvary Lutheran Church festivities and buffet. The Gospel Singers entertained.

Elgar William King, the son of Roy and Jessie King, and Hilda R Dollase, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Dallase, Sr., were married on November 17, 1926, in Neillsville, by the Rev. S. J. Lambright. For most of their lives, the couple farmed in the Town of Pine Valley. Elgar was employed by Kurt Marg Fur Foods, the Roddis Veneer Corporation in Marshfield and at H. H. Van Gorden and Sons. Hilda worked for Model Laundry and the Redville Dairy near Greenwood.

Hilda is a member of the Royal Neighbors and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Both are members of Calvary Lutheran.

The Kings are parents of eight children: Harry, Donald (Duke), Maynard (Butch), Mrs. Gordon (Carol) Zickert and Janice King, all of Neillsville; William, Berlin; Melvin, Withee; and Eugene. They also have 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Among those present for the celebration were relatives and friends from Berlin, Red Granite, Marshfield, Granton, Eau Claire, Ettrick and Loyal and from the Minnesota communities of White Bear Lake and St. Paul.
