Evenson, Martin E. (6 DEC 1896 – 10 FEB 1971)

Martin Edward Evenson, age 74, died suddenly February 10, 1971 at Cody, Wyoming, where he has lived since October of 1970.

Funeral services for the former Unity (Clark Co., Wis.) man were held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby. The Rev. Robert Sutherland, pastor of Unity Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated. Burial was in Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Born December 6, 1896, in Unity, he was married to Myra Messer, June 18, 1931, at Bessemer, Michigan.

He was a retired rural mail carrier who had worked for 35 years with the post office department.

Pallbearers were Nyole Creed, Alfred Johnson, Calvin Cook, Leon Jost, Forrest Johnson and Leo Bloom. Honorary pallbearers were John Johnson, Frak Jordan and Edward Mews, members of the American Legion.

Military graveside rites were conducted by the Colby VFW firing squad.

Surviving are his wife, a sister, Mrs. Ralph Davis, Redmond, Oregon, and two nieces, Mrs. Norman Weingard, Madras, Oregon, and Mrs. Tom Hanson, Cody, Wyoming.

Attending the funeral were: Mrs. Tom Hanson and Mrs. Van Largent, Cody, Wyoming; Mrs. Ed Buchmiller, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Kamps, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Meyer, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Milton Evers, Mercer; Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Messer and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Endreas and son, Spencer.
