Voigt, Alan Clyde (September 20, 1929 - November 12, 2005)

Alan Voigt, age 76, of Neillsville, died on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at his home, surrounded by his family, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.

Alan Clyde Voigt was born on September 20, 1929 in Loyal, the son of Gustave and Elizabeth (Lucht) Voigt. He attended Taft School and graduated from Loyal High School. After graduation he worked various jobs in Mayville. After this he was called to serve in the Korean War from 1952-1953. After his discharge he was a semi driver until his marriage on June 8, 1957 to Janice West. Alan and Janice bought her folks farm and along with farming Alan continued to drive semi again.

After selling the farm he moved to Neillsville and worked 22 years at Sunburst Youth Homes as a care worker and child care coordinator. He retired in 1991. Alan also spent many years as a Real Estate broker and was presently employed by Tieman Realty. Alan loved fishing, golfing, cribbage and photography. He enjoyed wintering in Florida and selling Christmas trees in Oklahoma. Alan was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church. He served as president of the Rotary Club, Calvary Church Council and police and Fire commissions.

Alan is survived by his wife, Janice; a son, Tim (Carla) Voigt; a daughter, Tamela Shubert, all of Neillsville; he is also survived by granddaughters, Tiffany Shubert, Alleah Voigt, Avriel Voigt; and a grandson, Zachary Shubert; a brother, James (Kathy) Voigt of Marshfield; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Sophie Klemme.

A memorial service will be held for Alan at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor James Gordon will officiate and providing music will be Kris Herbrand, organist. Visitation time will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning at the church. Interment will be in the Loyal Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ministry Home Care Hospice, 303 W Upham St., Marshfield, WI 54449.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Alan’s family with arrangements.
