Meissner, Hilbert (December 14, 1924 - November 25, 2005)

Hilbert Meissner, age 80, of Random Lake, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2005 at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake, where he had been a resident.

He was born on December 14, 1924 in Wood County, son of the late Ervin and Margaret (Kaas) Meissner. Mr. Meissner was a US Army Veteran, serving in WWII. While stationed in Germany in April of 1948, he married Maria Wasensteiner. In the early 1960s, the couple moved their family to Random Lake, where Hilbert drove truck for DeMaster Trucking, the Co-op, and other area firms. Mr. Meissner also served as the Random Lake Constable for many years during the 1960s and ‘70s. He was also a member of the American Legion and a generous supporter of Boys Town National Research Hospital. He also enjoyed hunting and working in his yard.

Hilbert is survived by his wife, Marie: children, Dr. Frank (Cynthia) of Del Rio, TX; Mary Lou (James) Schumacher of Oconomowoc; Hilbert (Bridget) JR of Jackson; Robert (Kaye) of Waupun; and Steven (Pamela) Meissner of San Antonio, TX. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold (Viva) of Mosinee; and Gerald of Francis Creek; three sisters, Mildred Kaczor of Neillsville; Rose Marie (Melvin) Zschernitz of Marshfield; and Lorraine Sternitzky of Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lucille Wilsmann.

Funeral services will be held on Friday December 2, at 12:30 p.m. at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N Royal Ave in Belgium, Wisconsin, with Chaplain Bob Lantz officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Random Lake. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Boys Town National Research Hospitals. Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is assisting the family.
