A letter from Mrs. W. A. Proctor, a niece of Mrs. C. C. Holliday announces her death at Arcadia Sanitarium, near Pasadena, California, Jan. 14, 1937.

Although it is some years since Mrs. Holliday left Neillsville, there are still many old friends here and throughout this county who will grieve to learn of her death.

Addie Neff was born near Lake Mills, Wis., Aug. 12, 1856, and came to Clark County with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Neff in 1869.

The family settled in the town of Levis. Here she attended country school, and the Neillsville High school, later graduating from River Falls Normal.

After teaching in Neillsville schools for a time, she was elected county superintendent, serving from 1885 to 1889.

Later she taught in Ashland high school and in the schools of Minneapolis.

She was married to C. C. Holliday of Minneapolis in 1896. They lived in that city until 1923, when they moved to California. Mr. Holliday died in 1931.

She leaves a sister Miss Angie Neff, 329 South Marengo Ave., Pasadena, Calif.; three nieces, Mrs. W. A. Proctor, Santa Ann, Calif.; Miss Gladys Neff, Oakland, Calif.; and Mrs. H. M. Campbell, Cincinnati, Ohio; and one nephew, Charles Neff of the town of Levis, Clark County, Wisconsin.

Mrs. Holliday was a lady of rare beauty of character and mental culture. She brought to her work as a teacher and school superintendent the talents of a trained educator and a conscientious worker for the well being of the pupils. Mrs. Holliday read widely and kept herself familiar with the finest things in literature and life. Her influence will long be felt by all who came in contact with her, both old and young.
