Chesterman, Frances (31 Jan. 1849 - 14 Aug. 1936)

Mrs. John W. Chesterman, a resident of Loyal and vicinity for 53 years, and aged 87 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Philpott of Loyal on Friday morning, August 14th, 1936, and funeral services were held at the Philpott home in Loyal on Monday afternoon of this week with the Rev. P. B. White of Neillsville officiating.

Frances M. Morley daughter of John C. and Jane A. Morley was born at Berrin Springs, Michigan, January 31, 1849. Here she grew to womanhood, receiving her education in the schools of Buchanan and New Troy and becoming a member of the Methodist Church in early youth and remaining a faithful member through all the years.

On December 7, 1865 she was married to John W. Chesterman who preceded her in death 8 years ago. Two children were born to this union, Henry M. of Anchorage, Alaska, and Alice, Mrs. J. M. Philpott of Loyal with whom Mrs. Chesterman had made her home ever since the death of her husband.

The Chestermans came to Wisconsin in April 1883 and lived the rest of their lives in Loyal and vicinity.

Last January, 31st, when Mrs. Chesterman celebrated her 87th birthday, her friends began to realize she was failing. The long hard winter and the hot summer were more than her failing strength could stand and in spite of the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, she slipped into the great beyond. Friday morning, August 14th at the age of 87 years, six months and fourteen days.
