Strangfeld, Henry (26 Jan. 1858 - 23 June 1936)

Henry Strangfeld was born in Prussia, Germany, January 26, 1858, and died at Neillsville, Wisconsin, June 23, 1936, having reached the age of 78 years, four months and 28 days. Although he had been in failing health for the past year, due to eczema, he was ever faithful and dependable worker until almost to the end. He was confined to his bed for just 10 days before he died.

Henry Strangfeld came to America, when a young man, and having learned the shoemaker trade while in Germany, he was quiet a success at the trade, especially in the making of women’s and children’s fine shoes. He worked for several years on a farm in Holly, Michigan, and many other places. In 1897 he came with his brother Lucas to a farm in Washburn, Clark County, and remained there about 20 years. From there they moved to Plainfield where they lived about two years. Shortly after coming to the present farm in the town of Weston he went to work at the Imig Brothers farm reaming there about 14 or 15 years. He then came back to his brother’s farm and remained there until his death.

Henry Strangfeld was the last of the family of 9 children. His brother Lucas preceded him in death in 1934.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 8 o’clock Friday morning. Pallbearers were Arthur and Paul Imig, John Ripke, C. C. Kroil, Frank Zickert, Sr., and C. J. Nenahlo.
