Bridge, Mrs. Jerry (Nov 1852 - 23 Feb. 1936)

Word has been received by Mrs. J. W. Hommel from Lieut. R. George Hill, Fort Worth, Texas, of the death of Mrs. Bridge which occurred on Feb. 23, at Forth Worth, where she was interred.

Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bridge (Louise Towner) will be remembered as former residents of Neillsville, where their only child, Lura, was born on South Hewett Street. Mr. Bridge died later and the family went to live with her father at Wycona. Miss Lura became a professional nurse of high standing in Milwaukee and later was assistant superintendent of a hospital at Sherman, Texas.

When the Wisconsin Troops went into the Mexican border trouble at Camp Wilson, Miss Bridge transferred to Fort Sam Houston, San Antonia, where she met Lieut. Hill, whom she married later removing to Forth Worth, where Mrs. Bridge joined them, having in the meantime become blind.

A short time afterward she fell and fractured her hop and was confined to a wheel chair and crutches. About five years ago the daughter, Mrs. Hill died leaving Mrs. Bridges a helpless invalid, requiring constant medical care which Mr. Hill is sure she has had to the end.

Just before leaving Neillsville the Bridge family lived in the house just north of the Hommel home.

Mrs. Bridge was a devoted daughter, a fine mother and a splendid neighbor and friend.
