Christman, Willard F. (13 NOV 1877 - 23 JUL 1935)

Willard Francis Christman was born at Viroqua, Vernon Co., Wis., Nov. 13, 1877, and passed away at the State General Hospital, Madison, Wis., July 23, 1935, aged 57 years, 10 months and 10 days.

With his parents he lived at Viroqua until he was 19 years old, when they moved to a farm near Granton.

In 1909 he united in marriage to Miss Lisetta Gotter. To this union four boys were born, Marvin, Milton, Luellyn and Rupert.

In 1921 the family moved to Klondike, where he was in the blacksmith business for four years. Having to leave his business there on account of poor health he moved onto a farm near Pittsville where they lived for two years. In April 1929 he moved his family to a farm three miles north of Loyal, where he resided until the time of his death.

On May the 8th, last, he was taken to the hospital at Madison for treatment, where he remained four weeks. He came home a week recuperating and visiting at the home of his sister at Viroqua. On July 7th, he was again taken to the hospital in Madison, where he remained until he was stricken by death on the 23rd.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, Mrs. Lisetta Christman, four sons, Marvin, Milton, Luellyn and Rupert, all of Loyal, also three sisters, Lillie, Mrs. Matt Robinson of Viroqua; Lottie, Mrs. Wilton Hoover of Argonne, Wis., Nettie, Mrs. Berl Kidd of Viroqua; also two brothers, Ike Christman of Beloit, Wis., and Arthur Christman of Aberdeen, S. D.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, one sister, Lizzie, Mrs. Happs of Kentucky, and three brothers, Jake, Charles and William.

During his long illness, he was very patient and resigned. He leaves behind a host of friends and neighbors who held him in high esteem.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Austin N. Chapman, Pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Loyal and York Center. There was a brief service at the home of the deceased, three miles north of Loyal, this was followed by the principal service at the Community Church, Granton, Wis., with interment at the Granton cemetery.
