Oudinot, Michael (14 DEC 1833 - 14 DEC 1907)

Michael Oudinot, the well known veteran of the Civil War and retired U.S. Sailor, died at the home of his son, Robert Oudinot on Saturday of last week, after an illness of over four months. The deceased was 74 years old to a day, as he died on Dec. 14th, 1907 and was born on Dec. 14th, 1833, a remarkable coincidence. The funeral was conducted under the auspices of the local Elk Lodge, Mr. Oudinot having been a member of Hudson Lodge of that order, with service at the house at 10:30 a.m. Monday and interment at Abbotsford later in the day.

The deceased is survived by his age wife, five sons and one daughter. The children are Robert Oudinot of this city (Colby, Clark Co., Wis.), George of Chelsea, Sylvester of Hancock, Mich., Wm. Aldrich of Manistee, and Edward Aldrich of Ashland. Mrs. Oudinot resides here with her son.

Michael Oudinot was born at Pottsville, Penn., and his death closes a most eventful and useful life. He served eleven years in the U.S. Navy during his youth, and served through the Civil War in the union army. (Marshfield Times)

Mr. Oudinot and family moved into the town of Holeton in 1872 and resided there until 1901. Colby was their trading point for many years, and the hosts of friends here will join the Phonograph in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
